Reading Rockets


Launched in 2001, Reading Rockets is an education initiative of WETA, a public television and radio station.  In an effort to promote reading, Reading Rocket shares research-based learning strategies with parents and adults in a variety of multimedia formats.  Their main research focuses on how young kids learn to read, why so many struggle, and how adults can help.

  • They also have teaching articles which provide helpful teaching tips.
  • Another fun feature that Scholastic offers is Story Starters.  This is a fun, interactive and creative way to write and create your own stories online.  After you have finished writing your story (and illustrating it), this interactive software prompts users to either print or download their creations.
